You are listening to episode 30, Titled- Small Effort, Big reward

Hey you guys! This is Kelsie Millet and I am your host here on the Let Him In Podcast, where

my intent is to have these episodes full of thoughts, impressions and ways for you to easily let God into your every day.

It feels good to be back! If you are listening to this as it first airs I just want to say thank you for your patience with me as I figured out the ups and downs that came these last few months. I felt discouraged for a hot second about not completing the 40 days all together. But quickly realized that was the adversary, and so I am back and so excited to be here this morning.

I can’t even believe that we are on episode 30, that means we only have 10 days left of this 40 day series where we are intentionally letting God into our daily life. I feel like I have probably benefited the most from creating this podcast series.

I am so thankful to have had this opportunity, to really dive into how easy it truly can be to have God present in our everyday. How it also is very easy to overcomplicate it and how everyday we wake up we have to intentionally choose God again. It is an ongoing, beautiful process.

Everyday we are choosing something to put our energy into, to have our thoughts be filled with, that then end up guiding our choices and actions.

I hope that as you listened and pondered or participated in what the last 29 episodes have shared that you have felt that. That we have the agency and choice to decide to add God to our day or not. That we have the ability to make Him our priority or not. That we can choose Him or not.

Today’s episode is to simply give you a nudge to intentionally pause and reflect on what has changed for you over the last 29 episodes of this podcast. Or 5 episodes, or however long you have been here. What choices are you making differently? What priorities have shifted? What do you know you still need to work on and implement?

I know that as we all continue, me included in striving to add God into everyday life in small ways. Small being the key word here-  We are going to feel more peace, more love, more stillness, more patience, more hope, more…fill in the blank with what you need. You are going to get, “fill in the blank”, by adding God intentionally to your day.

I’m sure most of you have heard of what is called The Compound Effect, this “is the principle of reaping huge rewards from a series of small, smart choices,” made consistently, over a long period of time.

There is an example shared in the book, the compound effect by Darren Hardy that I love. This visual really makes it easy to understand how powerful small choices can lead to big results.

The example he uses is this- would you rather have (A) $3 million upfront or (B) one penny that doubles in value every day for 31 days?

Right off the bat option A sounds really enticing. $3 million dollars, that is a lot of money. But to actually maximise your gains, the correct answer is (B). But it doesn’t happen quickly. After 19 days you’d still only have $5,243 which might make you feel pretty foolish next to a friend who chose option (A).

It’s not until day 29 that the compounding gains of option (B) net you $3 million. And by day 30 your patience would have tripled option (A)’s total takings, a little over 10.7 million dollars.

This example shows the power and subtlety of compounding.

The choices that lead to life-altering change are, on the surface, disarmingly small. The good ones are easy to overlook and the bad ones are easy to forgive.

if small choices made consistently lead to big outcomes, it follows that many big outcomes come down to small choices.

The 10 minutes you read before bed. The 15 minutes you snooze in the morning. The short walk around the block. They all add up.

I know it, because I have seen it in my own life. I have seen the miracles that happen from small efforts. From being willing to read my scriptures even if I know it’s only one verse. To pray even though I know I am going to be interrupted by my kids.

I also have seen the opposite take place. Which is when we don’t add God into our everyday. And that one day, becomes a week, and then months, that turn into seasons, that turn into years, that turn into a relationship lost with our Heavenly Father.

Let us here in this community of sisters not let that happen to us. And it won’t if effort is continued to be made on each of our parts one small effort at a time.

Today’s thought comes from Sister McConkie

Believe you are a daughter of God. Believe that you have a Savior, Jesus Christ. Believe that you have a work to do. Believe you can return.

He loves us so much, that He has prepared the way for us to return to Him. May we remember and never forget that in all things, in all places, and at all times, you matter to Him.”

Now would be the perfect time to pull out your Hear Him Journal and continue in more stillness, an open mind and a desire to connect with God.

 Love you guys!
