Hey you guys! This is Kelsie Millet and I am your host here on the Let Him In Podcast, where

my intent is to have these episodes full of thoughts, impressions and ways for you to easily let God into your every day.

In the last episode we talked about praying when we really don’t feel like praying. We discussed that one of the reasons we need to pray no matter how we are feeling is because of the blessings that come from when we pray. I thought today would be the perfect time to dive in a little deeper to what those blessings actually are.

So, the other day I was laying in bed getting ready to go to sleep, thinking about how much I wanted to get done the next day. I have quite a lengthy list these days as kids are going back to school, baby is coming, etc. and I just was completely overwhelmed knowing that I was never going to have enough energy.

For the last couple of weeks I have had to take a nap literally everyday because by about 2 o’clock all my energy is shot for the day. Well, I decided to pray and ask Heavenly Father if He would be willing to bless me with energy- and not only that He would bless me with energy. And that my mind would be sharp and attentive. That I would be able to focus on whatever task I was working on without getting distracted. That I would be able to work through things quickly and easily.

I ended up waking up in the middle of the night and was up for over an hour just trying to go back to sleep. I prayed again during this time knowing that I really truly would  need to be blessed with energy because I wasn’t even getting a great night sleep.

The morning came and I woke up early- almost two hours earlier than I normally do. When I woke up I felt completely rested and had no desire to lay in bed. I got up already knowing that God was blessing me with energy. I didn’t know how long it was going to last and all my kids were still asleep so I got to work.

I wrote podcast episode, after podcast episode with more ease than I have ever had. Thoughts and impressions came quickly, I knew exactly what He would want me to talk about. I found quotes and scriptures and other influential material like I had already found them before.

Normally after writing for a period of time I have to mentally take a break, but my mind wasn’t tired. I was able to write newsletters, create content, clean my home, get laundry done, fulfill orders, make meals for my family, and not once through the day did I feel a lack of energy.

Not once did I feel like I needed to lay down and rest. Not once did I feel like my mind was shot. I got to the end of the day and looked at my husband and started laughing because it was so amazing of what I had done that day that it was actually comical.

In one day I had gotten done on my to do list what would have normally easily taken me three days, and I got it done in one.

I wanted to share this experience with you because prayer can provide us with some big amazing blessings, which I am going to mention here in a minute. But, prayer can also provide us the exact blessings we need when we ask for them. It can provide us with a day of energy. Sometimes all we need is 10 minutes of patience. I truly believe nothing is really off limits if we are praying and asking for these blessings with a sincere heart.

Sometimes we may think of blessings in such general, vague terms that they lose part of their significance. But every commandment brings you specific blessings when you live it.

President Ezra Taft Benson said, “Blessings do require some work or effort on our part before we can obtain them. Prayer is a form of work, and is an appointed means for obtaining some of the highest of all blessings.”

I love that we have such a loving God. If you think about it, it is pretty amazing that we can obtain some of the highest of all blessings simply by praying to Him. Having a conversation with Him, and then He will bless us.

If you have a minute, I encourage you to look up “Prayer, or Pray” in the Topical Guide and it will bring up numerous scriptures about prayer- and a lot of them refer to the blessings that we receive from following this commandment.

Here is a list of just a FEW of the blessings we can receive-

Protection, wisdom, Guidance and revelation through the Holy Ghost, strength, actions that are consecrated, the ability to overcome temptation, confidence to enter God’s presence, blessings for your family, the ability to forgive.

Again, these are not even all the blessings that we have been promised. One blessing that I know I could add from personal experience is peace, and hope.

A few episodes back we talked a lot about peace, and how true everlasting peace only comes through Christ, and prayer is really an amazing gateway for that.

Back to why we need to pray when we don’t want to…I truly believe that prayer is what will pull us out of that mindset. Out of that rut. Prayer is the key to receiving exactly what we personally need at that time. Prayer is the key to unlocking a floodgate of blessings.

What would change in our everyday life if we looked at prayer as exactly that? A floodgate of blessings just waiting to be given to us. Would it make you pray differently? Would it make you pray more?

Today’s thought- I actually found an amazing talk given by Elder Dale G. Renlund called Abound with blessings. I wanted to quote you almost the entire talk, it is full of amazing insights and knowledge on receiving blessings. I would highly encourage you to read or listen to it today. I will put a direct link for you below in the description if you want to check it out.

Now would be the perfect time to pull out your Hear Him Journal and continue in more stillness, an open mind and a desire to connect with God.

Love you guys!
