You are listening to episode 34, Titled- Creating Empty Space in Your Life

Hey you guys! This is Kelsie Millet and I am your host here on the Let Him In Podcast, where

my intent is to have these episodes full of thoughts, impressions and ways for you to easily let God into your every day.

Good morning you guys, we are diving right in today. The other week I came across this post on Instagram by @heycoryallen that said-

Being still and quiet for a few minutes a day gives your mind a break from input. That break creates space in your thinking, which allows you to hear your own voice and get back in tune with your inner compass.

I read that and it immediately resonated with me, although I personally would add in that this type of break allows you to not only hear your own voice but God’s voice.

I have found it SO helpful to intentionally not have any input at certain points of my day. It’s great to listen to podcasts, put on uplifting music, read uplifting content, watch fun and good shows. But at what point in your day do you intentionally choose to NOT have any input?

I am currently breastfeeding my 6 month old daughter and that gives me several times a day to actually sit during the day. I have used this time in a variety of ways over the last few months. I have scrolled Instagram, I have checked emails, listened to podcasts, gone through and organized photos and videos on my phone. But, I also have gone through seasons of not doing anything. Intentionally. I just sat there enjoyed my baby and have let my brain breathe. I gave myself the space of no input.

It’s during these moments that I find God more often than not just hanging out waiting for me to give Him these quiet moments. Where He can softly whisper to text a friend, or to remind me of something important that I don’t want to forget, or sometimes it’s been me just noticing the sunlight in my home. From being a photographer for 10 years I get giddy about pretty light, and I think God knows, actually I know He knows my love for light. And I often feel Him when I pause to see the sunlight pouring through my home. These are just a few examples, and I’m sure you could add your own. The point is, I think God is always there. I like to think that when we decide to put effort into pausing the world for a few minutes it gives you the opportunity in those quiet moments to create a pause with our loving Heavenly Father together from the world,I see him saying- Hey I see you. I’m here.

“In the scriptures and in Church we often learn about being still (see Psalm 46:10) or pondering (see 3 Nephi 17:3). I’ve come to use the term “quiet moments” to describe this pause, which creates space for us to recognize impressions, accept reality, and connect to the present instead of focusing on past regrets or future anxieties—often inviting the Spirit as a result.”

I think we could all benefit from creating empty space in our lives. Intentionally. What would happen if we decided to do this every day? What would be the result? I think we would become more in tune with ourselves, our loved ones and with God.

To wrap this up with today’s thought: I would encourage you to ponder on where in your day you could create intentional pause where you had no inputs. No music, no phone, and just sit with your own thoughts and invite God in.

Now would be the perfect time to pull out your Hear Him Journal and continue in more stillness, an open mind and a desire to connect with God.

Love you guys!
